5 College Football Games That Fans Absolutely Can’t Miss In 2017

If you fancy yourself a college football fan by any means, then you absolutely have to watch the five games that follow.

With that in mind, a lot can change now until these contests actually go down, which means these teams could either climb up the rankings, or fall down them. As of right now, these appear to be some of the best games left of the 2017 college football season.

Note: All of the contests that follow have serious College Football Playoff implications (as of right now), which doesn’t necessarily mean they will be the most entertaining games of the season, it just means, as of right now, a lot appears to be riding on the line.

Oct. 21: Michigan @ Penn State

The Michigan Wolverines and Penn State Nittany Lions are both off to perfect 4-0 starts, and if we’re lucky, they’ll both be undefeated (and ranked in the top five) when they play each other on Oct. 21. At the time of writing, Penn State is ranked No. 4 in the country in both major polls while Michigan is ranked as high as No. 7.

Yet another Big Ten clash, Penn State vs. Ohio State has “College Football Playoff implications” written all over it. Unlike the Nittany lions, though, the Ohio State Buckeyes already suffered a loss, a loss that came against another playoff contender in the Oklahoma Sooners. Considering Penn State plays Michigan and Ohio State in back-to-back contests, it will either climb up the rankings … or take a massive fall.

Oct. 28: Georgia vs. Florida

Georgia vs. Florida is one of the best rivalry games not only in the SEC but college football as well. If both teams continue to win, although the Florida Gators already lost to Michigan, then this contest could decide who takes home the SEC East hardware. The winner of this game, if all goes according to plan for both teams, will go on to play in the SEC championship game (side note: both teams will still have some SEC foes on the schedule after this clash).

Nov. 11: TCU @ Oklahoma

The TCU Horned Frogs are currently undefeated and ranked in the top 10. Likewise, the Sooners are currently undefeated and ranked in the top 10. If these squads are still undefeated when they meet, all eyes (especially the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee) will be on this game.

Nov. 25: Alabama @ Auburn

The Iron Bowl, played between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers, of course, is typically one of the most anticipated games. As of right now, Auburn is ranked as high as No. 13 in the polls, despite a loss, and Alabama is ranked No. 1. Yeah … the Iron Bowl could be extra special this year if the Crimson Tide and Tigers roll through their remaining competition leading up to this one.

Bonus (Nov. 25): Ohio State @ Michigan

This game is being placed in bonus land for two reasons: (1) Ohio State vs. Michigan is typically one of the most anticipated games on a yearly basis, even if neither team is in contention for a title. (2) The Wolverines and Buckeyes entered 2017 with College Football Playoff hopes, to say the least. It remains to be seen who will win the Big Ten East, and if a Big Ten West team like the Wisconsin Badgers can take the Big Ten title game. Now until then, madness will certainly take over the college football season in all the right ways.
