After getting behind early off a shaky start from Dallas Keuchel, the Houston Astros rallied back to get four runs off Clayton Kershaw and tie the game at 4-4. The last three runs came off this towering shot from the Cuban-born Yuli Gurriel, who has been the Astros’ most consistent hitter in the post season.
Gurriel’s appearance in the game is somewhat controversial. He made a gesture seemingly mocking Japanese-born pitcher Yu Darvish after hitting a home run off him in Game 3. MLB decided to suspend him five games for it, but it won’t take affect until the 2018 regular season.
This three-run homer is exactly why the Astros had to be thrilled to find out they would still have him for the rest of the World Series. He has been vital to their success.
