Every year, Foot Locker and some of the top athletes in the world team up for the celebration that is the Week of Greatness.
Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis (three big-time stars in the NBA) helped celebrate this year’s edition of Week of Greatness, and they also “starred” in a video promoting this special week.
Three other NBA stars — Damian Lillard, James Harden and Kristaps Porzingis — also joined in on the action in another commercial for Week of Greatness, and you can check it out by following this link.
Both videos feature look-alikes of the athletes mentioned above, as opposed to actually having them appear in the videos.
To get a better understanding of what this week is about, let’s turn to footlocker.com:
Every year, Foot Locker celebrates the Week of Greatness with the top athletes and artists in the league. But this year, we’re doing something different. Instead of starring in our commercials, Foot Locker is empowering these players and celebrities to make a real difference in the real world with their own Acts of Greatness through the action-oriented platform – #GreatnessDoesGood. In addition to the #GreatnessDoesGood campaign, Foot Locker will donate new shoes from its own supply to benefit those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
You can get involved by sharing your own Acts of Greatness by tagging #GreatnessDoesGood and donating new and gently-worn shoes in Foot locker stores around the world, beginning Nov. 18 through Nov. 26, 2017. So this Week, grab some kicks and follow in the footsteps of the great ones by doing your own Acts of Greatness at home. Because whether you’re a fan or a star, being great is about doing good. #GreatnessDoesGood
Here’s what Melo had to say about Week of Greatness, according to prnewswire.com:
“Helping Puerto Rico overcome the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. Foot Locker’s generosity throughout the Week of Greatness will undoubtedly have an impact as the island continues to rebuild and recover the many items, including clothing and shoes, that were lost,” said NBA star, Carmelo Anthony. “I encourage everyone to join me in donating any unworn pair that you can to help those in need in Puerto Rico through the #GreatnessDoesGood campaign.”
It’s always amazing to see athletes giving back when they aren’t on the court/field showing off their talents, and that’s what Week of Greatness is all about.

Via the prnewswire.com article mentioned above:
“I’ve partnered with Foot Locker before but this year’s Week of Greatness campaign is special because I get the opportunity to do something that’s important to me which is support the community and help those in need,” said NBA star, Damian Lillard. Later this week I’ll be working with Foot Locker on my ‘Act of Greatness’ in Portland, talking with teens about respecting each other and themselves, and spreading the #GreatnessDoesGood spirit.”
With some of the biggest names in the sport, we could only imagine that Foot Locker’s Week of Greatness was a major success this year. Nonetheless, we love seeing professional athletes giving back in a big way.
