The Houston Astros delivered one of the more spectacular runs to the World Series in recent memory. They took down the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, or the top three payrolls in Major League Baseball, and did it with phenomenal offense and impenetrable defense in the infield.
Oh, and some ridiculous pitching in elimination games.
In 27 innings of win-or-go-home baseball in the ALCS and World Series, the Astros pitching staff allowed just two runs total. To say that is dominating would be a criminal understatement. When a team has its backs against the wall you find out their true colors. The Astros sprayed their colors all over Dodger Stadium last night.
They also had a fantastic celebration in the visitor locker room which you can see above.
Being a Houston native and a lifelong Astros fan, this win is about as sweet as it gets. I’ve only ever been part of a Houston Rockets championship when I was eight and nine years old. To get this now, especially in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey (I still have friends trying to get their lives back together), it truly is an indescribable feeling.
