For the second consecutive year, the Chicago Cubs have clinched the NL Central title, with this year’s clinching coming on the St. Louis Cardinals‘ field.
While the Cubs have had a wild ride this season (at one point, it didn’t even look like they would make the playoffs), they are streaking at the perfect time. At the time of writing, Chicago has won seven out of its last 10 games, which, of course, includes a W in its last contest against the Cardinals.
After winning the World Series for the first time in 108 years (and winning 103 regular season games in the process), the Cubs entered the 2017 MLB season with high expectations. However, entering the All-Star break, this squad held a 43-45 record. Thanks to a second-half surge, they have climbed way above .500 (the Cubs are currently 89-69).
