This past weekend, Hollywood was all about the gold. But, that’s not just globes – it’s medals too.
On Saturday, Golden Globe nominees, Olympians and athletes came together to celebrate the season’s upcoming Winter Olympics. The fifth annual Gold Meets Golden event—a star-studded platform that commemorates the success of both groups—helped kick off the busy weekend in a unique way.
Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders loaned her gold to the likes of Hugh Jackman (“The Greatest Showman”), Jessica Chastain (“Miss Sloane”), James Franco (“The Disaster Artist”) and Chrissy Metz (“This Is Us”).
Famed entertainer Ricky Martin took photos with Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Carmelita Jeter and Laurie Hernandez, among others.
Singer Keala Settle delivered a half-time performance of the eventual Globe-winner for best song, “This is Me.”
And Celebrity Chef Cat Cora whipped up some themed eats for the lot.
A longtime fixture in entertainment and sports, presenting sponsor Coca-Cola helped bring the event to life through a collection of historical relics and memorabilia. The highlight was a series of Olympic torches from throughout the company’s 90 years of involvement with the Games.
The majority of attendees signed commemorative snowboards and delivered well wishes to Team USA, ahead of competition in South Korea.
Following the brunch, several of the event’s attending Olympians rooted on their entertainment counterparts during Sunday’s Golden Globes.
