Kiké Hernandez had not only the night of his life in Game 5 of the NLCS between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs, he had one of the greatest nights in MLB postseason history. The above grand slam was only the beginning of a spectacular evening that sent the Dodgers to the World Series for the first time since 1988.
He would go on to hit two more homers and drive in a total of seven runs to lead the Dodgers to an 11-1 victory, the largest series-clinching victory on the road in the history of Major League Baseball.
Maybe the best part of the story? Hernandez told his mother back in Puerto Rico — a country in dire need after the devastation of Hurricane Maria — that he would hit a home run. Well, he hit three. What a night.
