Ranking The 5 Toughest Games Left On Oklahoma Sooners’ 2017 College Football Schedule

Oklahoma became a College Football Playoff favorite when it knocked off Ohio State on the road.

There are three teams that are considered “favorites” to make the College Football Playoff at this point in the season, and the Oklahoma Sooners are one of them (Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide are the other two).

With that in mind, the road to the playoff can be a rather tough one, and although the Sooners arguably faced their toughest test of the season and passed (the Ohio State Buckeyes on the road), they still have some challenges left. Said challenges can be found in the following slides.

Just like most rivalry games, anything could happen in the Red River Rivalry. With that in mind, the Texas Longhorns are just 2-2 on the season. You have to respect a good rivalry, though.

4. Oct. 28 vs. Texas Tech

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are a very intriguing team, especially since quarterback Nic Shimonek is no stranger to big-time performances. Case in point: Shimonek dropped 543 passing yards and six touchdown passes against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The QB has racked up 1,248 passing yards and 11 touchdown passes in 2017.

3. Nov. 25 vs. West Virginia

The date with the West Virginia Mountaineers is actually the Sooners’ last regular season game of 2017, which means there’s no way they will overlook them, especially since they could be in play for a spot in the Big 12 title game and College Football Playoff. Nonetheless, the Mountaineers shouldn’t be taken lightly.

2. Nov. 11 vs. TCU

Kenny Hill and the TCU Horned Frogs mean business (hence the 44-31 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road). Oh yeah, TCU is also ranked as high as No. 9 in the polls. If all goes according to plan, this contest will not only be a shootout but one of the most entertaining watches of the season as well.

Although things could certainly change as things start to play themselves out, this is the toughest remaining game on Oklahoma’s schedule for one big reason: This clash will be played in Stillwater. For all it’s worth, the QB battle (there are so many great ones in the Big 12) between Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph should be fun.
